I have been curious how well the .us ccTLD has been growing, so I decided to do some research of my own. For most domains, it is easy to go to Google, type site:.com, and see approximately how many pages Google has indexed on the .com gTLD. However, this isn’t as simple with .us. The problem is, there are millions of pages indexed for each of the official state.us domains, and I did not want this data included in the end result. So I decided to start archiving my own data, by doing manual site: searches for each state, and subtracting that data from the total number of .us pages. This includes removing data from US territories, and the fed.us pages.
